Saguaro

Ten thousand years
Longer than human history can tell
I was stranded here
I lived among the kind-hearted people of the earth

Though I made friends
They've all gone in the end
My hand closed their eyes
And passed their bodies to the dirt

My own home world
Light years away and growing further every day
And though I long to see her again
Sonora is where my life will end

My old black coat is covered in dust
Left of a planet gone to rust
This human life, burn like a fire
In cold morning ash an ember lies

And when I go
Give my heart to Arizona
She'll take me in, close my eyes
And pass my body to the dirt
