Prodigal Son
A certain man had two sons
The younger came to him and said, Hey Dad
Give me the portion of the goods that fall unto me
He divided all his living
And he gave to each of them
The young son gathered everything
And took off 'round the world
He wasted all of his substance
Living way beyond his means
And when he'd spent it all
Then hard times came, and he found himself in need
A famine in the land, drove him to despair
He found some work, feeding pigs, just to stay alive
But then he came to his senses
Realized just what he'd done
The servants in my father's house
Have food enough to spare
I will go back to my father
And beg him for some work, saying
Father, dear father, can you forgive me?
'Cause I've sinned against heaven, and you
Spent all you gave me on riotous living
I am no longer worthy of you!
When his father saw him returning
Way out across the fields
He had compassion on him
And ran out to meet him, saying
Welcome back! Welcome home! Welcome my son!
Father, dear father, can you forgive me?
'Cause I've sinned against heaven, and you
I spent all that you gave me on riotous living
I have nothing, and I'm begging you!
His father said to the servants
Bring forth the very best of clothes
Put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet
Restore my son into the fold!
Bring up the fatted calf, and kill it
Let's hold a feast to celebrate
My son was dead, and is alive again
He was lost, but now he's found
Indignation turned to anger
When the elder son returned, he asked
Why make a feast for this vagabond?
Who dares to call himself your son?
All these years recall, Who served you?
Your command I have not disobeyed!
You've never held a feast for me this way!
What an insult! Have I disappointed you?
My son, you are always with me
Everything I have, you know is yours
It is good that we should welcome him this way
For he was lost, but now he's found!
Father, dear father, can you forgive me?
'Cause I've sinned against heaven, and you
I assumed my brother was no longer welcome
But your grace shows me this is not true!
Father, dear father, can you forgive me?
'Cause I've sinned against heaven, and you
I assumed my brother was no longer welcome
But your grace shows me this is not true!
The younger came to him and said, Hey Dad
