Don't Turn Away

I've got nothing to sell you that you can't make yourself
I've got nothing to tell you that you can't learn from books on a shelf

But with my feet in the water, and with the sun in my eyes
My thoughts and my feelings have been changing like clouds in the sky

Some days I feel like dancing, others I cower and hide
Can't find no balance between self-loathing and pride

So if you're offering lessons I'd be happy to pay
While my heart is undressing, I just hope that you don't turn away

See my mother once told me "Boy we've all gotta die
While you're counting your blessings, they can ripen and rot on the vine

So get out there and taste them, get some juice on your chin
There ain't no understanding this beautiful mess that we're in"

Some days I feel like dancing, others I cower and hide
Can't find no balance between self-loathing and pride

So let's paint with our fingers, and let's play it by ear
I don't have no answers, but I know there's nothing to fear
