Sidewalk Chalk

Walking down the right side of the street
Look down and see drawings at my feet
A child left them there with an adventure on their mind
Being able to dream while we still had time
We work so hard to have it all washed away
Just because the sky's having a bad day
We get knocked down but get back up
But then we just end up restuck
Our lives are just like sidewalk chalk
Temporary
I remember when we had it all
We'd build houses ten feet tall
But at the end of the day our mom would take them down
And then we'd have to restart building from the ground
We work so hard to have it all torn apart
Just creating a breaking heart
We pick up the pieces of our personal lives
And change ourselves and try to hide
Our dreams are just like legos
Breakable
The rain washed away our drawings
Our mom took away our building blocks
The truths been brought to us
And that's what knocks us off our feet
We cannot find a beat
A steady pace to keep our lives arranged
Our lives are just like they were before
