This Ladder Is Ours (Spotify Session)

One, two, three, four

Let's take this walk, it's long overdue
And let this loathe roll over you finally
Let's take this walk, it's overdue

Let's sit and talk and slow things down
Just be our old selves again finally
Let's take this walk
Let's take a walk to somewhere clear

This ladder is ours, this ladder is ours
We can be anybody else
Hold on to the fringe
Jump through from the past
This ladder is ours, this ladder is ours
This is where everybody turns
Out right in the end
Can you play that part?

Oh, see us walking through the sunshine
Ask me where I've been
Back to the wire, back to desire
This is where it all begins

This ladder is ours, this ladder is ours
We can be anybody else
Hold on to the fringe
Jump through from the past
This ladder is ours, this ladder is ours
This is where everybody turns
Out right in the end
Can you play that part?

This ladder is ours, this ladder is ours
This ladder is ours, this ladder is ours
This ladder is ours, this ladder is ours
This ladder is ours, this ladder is
Ours, ours, ours, ours, ours, ours, ours
Ours, ours, ours, ours, ours, ours, ours
Ours, ours

Thank you
Now, when you guys play full, full bore electric, uh, I know, or in, in past years you guys have had a, like, each have had an arsenal of pedals, and, uh, you create some incredible noise, so how, how much of a challenge was it to come here and sound this great today, just in the acoustic with your, uh, drummer boy and his full set?
Um, well, it's quite strange, because this, um, the new album, it, it kind of marks quite a different approach to the songwriting in that, like
All the songs on the new album were pretty much, kind of, written on a guitar or a piano and, and the voice, and that's quite different from the first record, which was
It was a bit more like building, painting a picture, almost, the first record, there was a lot of writing in the, in the production and, uh, y'know, kind of more like a mesh, and more about bringing lots of different layers together, so
It's actually felt, it's felt a little bit, kind of, more straightforward, hasn't it, actually, realizing these, these new songs on a, on acoustic guitar
Although, there's still kind of, y'know, like some of the, I mean there's intimate moments on the new record, but others have kind of turned into, kind of, fully orchestrated, really kind of bombastic tunes at the same time, so they're still very, very different kind of animals, but
What are you gonna play us out with?
We're actually gonna, gonna, gonna do a, a track from the first record (excellent)
Uh, this is Whirring
