Don't Sit in My Pew

Welcome to our church I see that you are new
We're happy to have you with us
But we have a problem which is causing me to fuss
And that is you're sitting in my pew

We're glad to see you hope you'll come again
Bring others with you too
But don't make the same mistake again
And sit yourself down in my pew

I've been here for 40 years I always sit right here
My dear ol' mother sat here too
I love to see new faces in our church
Until they sit in my pew

You can sit at the front or in aisle chair
You can easily see the preacher from
But there's one thing that's true and you should never do
And that is to sit in my pew

We're glad to see you hope you'll come again
Bring others with you too
But don't make the same mistake again
And sit yourself down in my pew

You're welcome as rain to come to our church
We're happy to see somebody new
Then she patted me on the hand and said please come again
But don't you dare sit in my pew
