One Day I Hope That
I been hoping for better days
I'm trapped inside a cycle
I've been trying to run away but there's no escape
I'm on my page writing all my words of inner rage
Fearful of the world but I'm guessing that's how we come of age
I'm 29 but my body's feeling old
But let me tell you something I was told
Work yourself down to the bone sleep when you're dead
All that tiredness you're feeling it's all in your head
So I'll admit on my shoulders is a couple chips
Life is like the sea and I've been on a trip
I remember as a kid I couldn't wait to dip
But it's getting more intense now I'm trying to jump ship
But I can't man I got a couple mouths to feed
And I got a couple devil dogs hounding me
But alas I crash and decompress
I'm praying for the best, one day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
I been hoping for better days
I'm trapped inside a cycle
I've been trying to run away but there's no escape
I'm on my page writing all my words of inner rage
Fearful of the world but I'm guessing that's how we come of age
When I was writing I had this beat stay on repeat
I'm riding down these streets and I'm praying I don't see the police
I'm spitting frees hoping my verses fit the melody
And harmony what's harming me is my mental keep telling me
That I won't make it and then my inner voice had yelled at me
To watch the cop that's lurking ahead of me but I failed to see
I didn't speed but I'm not sure of what he thinks of me
I didn't blink, thank God he didn't follow me
Honestly I never know if it's life or death
Everyday I have these thoughts adding to my stress, I'm a mess
But alas I ask what I'll regret
Who does God protect? One day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
I been hoping for better days
I'm trapped inside a cycle
I've been trying to run away but there's no escape
I'm on my page writing all my words of inner rage
Fearful of the world but I'm guessing that's how we come of age
Every night I sit up in my car
Meditating on situations it's getting pretty hard
I read books on help and mental health
Got my sanity sitting up on my shelf, I tell myself
Rev go a day at a time
I take a couple steps forward but I'm always behind
And is it worth it? I'm really trying to find what it means
My reflection is a man who's hurt is more than it seems
Split at the seams pouring out my heart and my soul
Tears made of blood crying I can't control
I'm a wreck
But alas my mask I can't remove
I always seem to lose, one day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
One day, one day, one day, one day
One day I hope that
I'm trapped inside a cycle
I've been trying to run away but there's no escape
I'm on my page writing all my words of inner rage
Fearful of the world but I'm guessing that's how we come of age
