On the Fields

I watch the trees pass me by
Are they running? Or is it just the train?
I wonder why
I hear the clanking of trunks
Are they fighting? Or is it just the tracks?
I rest my head cause it's so dry

The thought alone breaks my skull
I guess I'll leave it for now
Another day, another bow
I leave the ring and rest my brow

I left my roads in the field
Had the farmer found them, shown his wife
No time to glare

Does he know I laid there long?
Washed my toes between the crop
Made my prayers
And took my share

I never wanted to find this whole deal, this sunk affair
Oh, took make up all the time to make it real, a catch so rare

I'm on a train going far
A one way ticket to get me to my great big slide
I'd never leave a door ajar
Not even if it was nagging me
You know that's no lie

The thought alone breaks my skull
I guess I'll leave it for now
Another day, another bow
I leave the ring and rest my brow

I left my shell in the corn
'Suppose he's wondering when it came from 'bout now
Would end it bad, a case for long
The wether conditions will worsen this fall

Does he know I laid there long?
Does he know I laid there long?
Does he know I laid there long?
Does he know I lay there still?
