Self-referential Suicide

What if I wrote the wrong words
To a song nobody heard?
Will the artistic merit stand?
How much tax will the fault demand?

Maybe it will indeed
Impede the message's sobriety
But if the imperfection's only in my brain,
Is the meaning truly stained?

I tried to follow, but the dog's
More than halfway through the forest
The wind and trees align as if
Guided by an anonymous chorus
Just like bread we pull apart
Inside of someone else's mind
I'm eager to look beyond these doors
Because I want something new to find

What if I did instead
What others fully dread?
Then write the adventure in a book
But what if for fiction it is mistook?

What if I try to clear my name
But the tales are still viewed the same?
I guess no matter the evidence,
Never means never doesn't it?

I tried to follow, but the dog's
More than halfway through the forest
The wind and trees align as if
Guided by an anonymous chorus
Just like bread we pull apart
Inside of someone else's mind
I'm eager to look beyond these doors
Because I want something new to find
