I'm in Trouble

Got in trouble in the sixth grade
Hurt the feelings of a good friend
We all laughed like I was cool then
Now I know i was a fool then
Fell in love when I was 14
Told myself we'd make a family
Broke my heart for the first time
But that's okay it wasn't quite right
Was a leader in the church band
Had a question pop in my head
If my brother is an atheist
Is he gonna burn forever amen

Well that's okay it's alright, we've all got to occupy our own minds
We all must learn, we all must crawl
We all must fall before we can walk
So much to see so much to know
Can you tell me what happens when we run

I'm in trouble! I've asked too much now I struggle
To maintain grasp on the bubble of thoughts laced with indoctrinated information

At 18 had an awakening
Left the church and my religion
Searched my heart for its own truth
To become love that's what's I wanna do
Went to school to be a therapist
Gave my hands to people that need them
Learned so much in a short time
Healing touch helped open my mind
Quit my job when I was 23
Change the world thought it would be easy
Quickly saw I had it backwards
Like Gandhi said must change myself first

Well that's okay it's alright, we've all got to occupy our own minds
We all must learn, we all must crawl
We all must fall before we can walk
So much to see so much to know
Can you tell me what happens when we run

I'm in trouble! I've asked too much now I struggle
To maintain grasp on the bubble of thoughts laced with indoctrinated information

I'll learn the language of my heart
I'll find the lessons of my scars
And I'll open to the mystery
And embrace all the adversities
I'll be a candle in the dark
Reveal my shadows hidden parts
And make friends with what i do not know
To myself I promise I will grow

I promise I will grow
I promise I will grow
I promise I will grow

Well that's okay it's alright, we've all got to occupy our own minds
We all must learn, we all must crawl
We all must fall before we can walk
So much to see so much to know
Can you tell me what happens when we run
