HMS Metaphor

The rats who left the sinking ship had a laugh with me today
The rats who were too lazy and drowned didn't have a word to say
People from the past, are always willing to criticise
From the first through to the last, no positive views were exercised

The sky is part of my timeless view, it includes a house and a tree
I like to watch it darken slowly, it corrects you for a fee
Six of ten and then one of two, a reminder of those final days
When he got me with the scissors, or was it something I said?

Now I'm no longer treading water, I'm so comfortably afloat
Following in my heroes' footsteps, You've got to get yourself a boat
We're all over the place, yet still concentrated
Survivors are just warming up, no numbness has been instigated
