From the Concrete
2pac in my ear plugs, looking in the mirror, with a
Smile on my face, I'm the child of a great woman
One of the women I'll kill for (For real)
She watched me grow and get bigger, and my dad a real father figure (Un huh)
For me, my brothers, and sister
All they really want is to be winners
Windows to my soul show that I'm focused, open minded poet
Pouring potent poetry in the ocean, out of my head, my words are floating
Growing up I devoted myself to these poems, wrote 'em, filled 'em with so much emotion
I am from over east, you can be strolling down the street and get your life stolen
(East side)
The hood full of culprits, so I paid attention to the niggas I rolled with
Separated myself from the rest of them, cuz true colors started exposing
Police patrolling, waiting for probable cause to come put a hole in my clothing
(Fuck 'em)
My innocence was stolen, by wicked witches putting spells on me, Hocus Pocus
(Ha, ha, ha, ha)
Never was homeless, but my home is, in the concrete jungle
Abandoned buildings, abandoned children, on the corners
Fucked up school system
Niggas drop out, and then go, enroll, into prison
Living in a world that's so sadistic, I ain't trying to be no statistic
I'm trying to make it out, make it out alive (Out alive)
I must do it now, cuz I'm running out of time (Out of time)
Chicago born and raised, raising in the sun (Raising in the sun)
If time is money, I can't waste no funds (Waste no funds)
I'm the rose that grew from the concrete!
I'm the rose that grew from the concrete!
I'm the rose that grew from the concrete!
In my glow, so nigga just watch me!
I'm the rose that grew from the concrete!
I'm the rose that grew from the concrete!
I'm the rose that grew from the concrete!
Ima blow, nobody can stop me!
Sitting in the front of the bus, but they want me in the back like rosa (I am)
No fucks are given, I won't give up my position to no one
In the concrete jungle, don't trust too many, my dogs turned out to be cobras (Fuck 'em)
My goal is to blow up, witness my come up, like you believe in Jehovah
Toast up to life, po' up mimosas (Cheers)
Chicks use to diss me, ain't know I would grow up
To be a mocha, handsome young lotus
I blossomed and then I become they main focus (Yeah!)
Now they blow up, my phone trying to work it out like yoga
Trying to get me to come over, but I'm over the old cru-shes
That I use to have as an adolescent, back in high school in the back of classes
Laughing with my homies, looking at the asses (Ha,ha)
Knew some chicks who ain't care and would let me grab it
Wishing they grant me access, but I'm much more mature now
The girls that I use to like, they were cute and fine, but they look like manure now
(What happened to you)
I'm trying to make it out, make it out alive (Out alive)
I must do it now, cuz I'm running out of time (Out of time)
Chicago born and raised, raising in the sun (Raising in the sun)
If time is money, I can't waste no funds (Waste no funds)
I'm the rose that grew from the concrete!
