Origami Swan
You feel like you're sick
But have no way of knowing
And every time you close your eyes could be your last
So awake you stay
Delaying the inevitable by making it more proximate
That's a fun game you play
Pretending we're gods in our binary world
That's more arbitrary than we think
You're just an origami swan
Graceful and diseased
Slowly absorbing water
Deaf to my plea
And the wind will blow you westward to meet the rising sun
And in that inverse plane all of us are one
We can all be one
We predetermine our purpose
When we really have none
And unable to pursue it
We see what we have done
So of course there is no escape from the societal machine
My child's eyes have been replaced and stole from me their gleam
The air holds the power
The fire was the birth
The sea's our destination when we depart from this earth
We're all origami swans
Sinking to the floor
Our paper's become soggy
We're not pretty anymore
For time asks the question
Were we ever clean?
I paint my actions eggshell
The past you give a sheen
How long can I delude myself?
My philosophy's a lie
The truth will always elude me
For long ago it died
The bumblebee perches on the flower
Ready to carry out its task
The sailor sees his briny fate
At the bottom of his flask
As lost as it may seem
And as I paint it to be
The world will keep on spinning
As long as lies will set you free
But have no way of knowing
And every time you close your eyes could be your last
So awake you stay
Delaying the inevitable by making it more proximate
That's a fun game you play
Pretending we're gods in our binary world
That's more arbitrary than we think
You're just an origami swan
Graceful and diseased
Slowly absorbing water

And the wind will blow you westward to meet the rising sun
And in that inverse plane all of us are one
