Strawberry

The canvas gone dark, and there ain't no messiah
Who is reigning above me, it's just been raining lately
Electric blew the wire, it was high pitched like the choir
Who keeps screaming in my ears, and I've been boxing all these years
And dressed up as a pyre, now all around me fire
And from this crowded point of view I sit and watch it all alone
All these unique snowflakes hit the ground and build their homes
Well the storm's stretched coast to coast, and I ain't never fit in with the white coats

Because they showed me a picture
I thought it was a masterpiece
But that rorschach confused me
I seen too many things
A sweet strawberry
A tiger showing teeth
If on the ledge with your memories
Which one do you think that you'd see?

The blood will dry black, but only if you let it
Oxidized in hotel lights it's hard to even tell the difference
Between what is alive and what's no longer with us
Oh how death can live inside, alas, a wrath is never selfish
But don't act so depraved, it happens everyday
And the holidays are hard for those through years been denied fate
And a void is a void, it's something that we'll never change
Well these hallways twist and turn but never return us back from whence we have came

And when I look at that picture
I don't feel one ounce of peace
Michelangelo's ceiling
An image on repeat
Create while you're sleeping
These post-traumatic dreams
No, I don't hear those angels
Over my chattering teeth

Sometimes I close my eyes so tight I think I might go blind
Dip back into grief, I do it all of the time
If heaven houses one and all then hell is right where we are
With this disease of despair, I know it wall to wall to wall to wall

So I'm painting a picture
It's gonna be a masterpiece
Of a sweet strawberry
And that tiger showing teeth
I ain't taming the wild
I'm just hitting the harmonies
Put my feet back in Davis
Where home is babbling
