When I was doing everything under the sun
I thought that I was having nothing but fun
But I was only setting up the trouble to come
Sloppy drunk from the bar
Then I jump in my car
Put the key in the ignition
Not a reasonable decision
I was needing some assistance
But sometimes I would be alone
Feeling like my car was driving me home
It would take me five minutes to open the house door
And either fall out on the bed, couch or floor
The next day not remembering how me or my car got home
That's pathetic
But the Lord is sympathetic
Now imagine doing that four times a week for two years
And still live
But it's only cause the Lord was there

Many times
I was facing dangerous situations
And it felt like the kid wouldn't make it
Getting lost on roads four times over at 3AM
And then stopping at a gas station
To get directions from folks not familiar with my kind
Anything could have happened
But God ain't blind
He knew I didn't have no business there
But He delivered me
Can I get a witness here?
I see it crystal clear
Just like it was yesterday
But I'm so glad that the Lord is my shepherd
Aye
What more is there to say
But give Him the glory
I'm overjoyed that He didn't ignore me
And end my story at 24 years old
I kiss the feet of the Lord for controlling my soul
And always keeping a roof over my head
That's why I know He was there

I know we all feel abandoned at times
With no family around
Just throw your hands in the sky
And say, "Thank you God"
I ain't to proud
And believe me
He'll forsake you not
He'll take you out of all your pain and suffering
But then there comes a time when you got to do stuff for Him
And you'll get nothing but love from Him
And you'll be protected by His covenant
So wherever you go
The Lord will be with you
To assist you
And He won't forget you
From the Book of Life
He won't clip you
If you live holy and not sinful
You can't close your mental window on God
Did you forget that He made you?
Come on now
We just need to put our souls in His care and hold it there
