Floods
Slipping out the window at 4am
I feel scared but relieved
I run for miles and miles
Until I find the sea
That roaring ocean beckons me
It's dark and I can't find my way
But the meander leads me from the mouth to the source
I dip in
Refreshing and cold
Bitter and sweet
I swim
Being enveloped by fuzzy water
It's never clear
It's just a blur
My heart is cold
The force is too heavy on my shoulders and the overwhelming wave kicks in
It delights and petrifies
A dominant force
That will be nothing tomorrow
As the tide flattens
It becomes clearer
And so much sadder
Flood
I feel scared but relieved
I run for miles and miles
Until I find the sea
That roaring ocean beckons me
It's dark and I can't find my way
But the meander leads me from the mouth to the source
I dip in
Refreshing and cold
Bitter and sweet
I swim
Being enveloped by fuzzy water
It's never clear
It's just a blur
My heart is cold
The force is too heavy on my shoulders and the overwhelming wave kicks in
It delights and petrifies
A dominant force
That will be nothing tomorrow
As the tide flattens
It becomes clearer
And so much sadder
Flood
