Sunrise

I woke up this morning, found a sunrise in my window
Wondered why I could not see, why it didn't occur to me
That it's not just the skyline painted silver and gold
Yeah, it is the method by which we grow old
And I know I will not understand
What it's all about
Until I find out what it's like to be unsure if you will see the next one, yeah

'Cause for you and me, a sunrise is just another day start
But for some you could say, they don't have another one to waste
So if they have to fight just to taste one more day
Then a sunrise should be looked at not with our eyes, but with our hearts

When I think about all the ways we could lose
I begin to realize that the things that we choose
Are so much bigger than the person everyone else sees
So when I look at the sunrise now all that I can see
Is a grim reflection of me
Am I going to be, everything you need in me
Or is there something I can't see about myself
That I don't wanna be when I die?
Yeah

'Cause for you and me, a sunrise is just another day start
But for some you could say, they don't have another one to waste
So if they have to fight just to taste one more day
Then a sunrise should be looked at not with our eyes, but with our hearts

When suddenly your days are numbered things look different through your eyes
You count every sunrise 'cause you know that soon you'll see your last
The time goes by too fast and the rest of us can only
Watch and hope to learn a little about life, Yeah

'Cause for you and me, a sunrise is just another day start
But for some you could say, they don't have another one to waste
So if they have to fight just to taste one more day
Then a sunrise should be looked at not with our eyes, but with our hearts
