Scientific Soul

What have we become
And what of our existence
The shadow of morality
Looms over the scientific soul
Might be in jeopardy here
The seed is planted
Near the heart of man
Embedded fear will take us
Through if we indeed can commandeer
We wipe the slate, we start from clear
But is this power ours
To have, to hold, and to abuse

Herded like sheep
To the water to drink
They take a sip
Take a dip
Then they look up and think
Is the reflection they see
What it is, or will be
And do they question their right
To make a new key
Key!

Shallow and deep
Watch morality sink
To the floor
There's a war
Choose a side of the street
Is the projection too low
For the strike of the blow
And can we estimate the size
Of the new hole
No!

And we forget
And check our minds at the door
Sometimes we pay what we get
Sometimes we get what we've sold

Two of us, three
Maybe four of the same
Is this a joke
Just a hoax
Or what they call a game
Is not creation their job
Or a drop of the bomb
And what's the sentence for trying
To impersonate
God!

And we submit
To what we're told
Sometimes we lose what we bet
And compromise our soul
