Time Flies

Times Square
August 14th
I was captured there
Posing with a stranger

The shot heard round the world
Echoed through my hometown
All the newsboys stared
At celebrations so profound

Peering down at reflected skylines
From Long Island Sound
Remembering the most dramatic of days
Cut off by the wake

Time flies
While I watched the seasons drown
From clear skies
What goes up most come down

Peering down
At reflected skylines
From paper thin clouds
Remembering the most romantic of days
Cut off by the shame

Always envy the guiltless ones
They can stare directly at the sun
From their squared off modern rooms
Minimalistic as their waiting tombs
