Dark Days (The Bridge)

From birth til now, we've lived our lives
Steadfast, focused, driven, ready to survive
But now the end times have come, with it, suicide
Everyone I've ever known has gone off and died

I couldn't tell you the reason why
I couldn't quite get myself to decide
But all I know is that this bridge is getting close
And we both know what happens when the distance has been closed

I'll fly
Away from pain
Away from suffering
It's just a block away

Nothing can be said to stop me
Or the countless others who are walking
A torrent of human bodies
Filling up the waters below

It's just a walk away
The entirety of the journey I think
Of all the misery, and how I wish it would leave me be
My friends, family, my colleagues, they await at the bottom of the beach
Crippled, mangled, disfigured beyond belief
And now I arrive to join their bodies

I'll fly
Away from pain
Away from suffering
It's just a block away

I'm getting close
I can feel that chilling oceanic breeze
It bites at my cheeks
It's a long ways down

I gaze
I ponder
I make the leap

My feet leaves the concrete underneath
Gravity grabs my body
I close my eyes, impact looming
I thank this voice within me
