This Is My Life

Some of my friends have told me
That I lead a successful life
Some people who know me, and some that don't
They think I got it made
And even though I know that I'm not what I should have been
I guess in the end, it worked out alright

I'm almost 40
I'm constantly broke
I work hard all the time
But I got what I need
I do what I want with all the time I have
But sometimes, once in a blue moon, I'd ask myself this question
Where have I gone wrong

In the end I got the freedom to do whatever I want
I got integrity, I don't have to compromise
Even though I may have disappointed someone along the way
After all, this is my life

I work for minimum wages
I live in the slum
I got duct tape on my door
The clothes on my back
The shoes on my rack
They're from the distant past
My father bought his first mercedes before I was even born
And Cesar's Palace was his home away from home

Growing up, I had everything a child could ever want
I had the newest toys, the best money could buy
But something was still missing from my world in spite of all I've got
The approval from even one of them

Now I find myself
Walking down a path of broken dreams
A millionaire's son no more... ohhhhhhhh

In the end I got the freedom to do whatever I want
I got integrity, I don't have to compromise
Even though I may have disappointed someone along the way
After all, this is my life

In the end I've got the freedom to do what I feel is right
I have love, and people who care
It doesn't matter who I might have disappointed along the way
I still say, life is alright
Cause after all
This is my life
