The Man in Gray

There is a man who lives outside of town
He lives alone, with two black cats
The only time he ever leaves his home
Is to go get bread and milk, from the corner store

And then he picks the longest line
Just to kill some time
The clerk will greet him and he'll pay
He is the man in gray

He takes a seat outside his front porch everyday
To get some fresh air, I suppose
He likes to listen to the birds singing their songs
It reminds him, of his early days

He is a very quiet man
Much different than his younger self
Now all his family lives away
He is the man in gray

He picks the same outfit to put on everyday
His closet filled, with dusty clothes
He wears a gray suit and a pair of tattered shoes
This was the suit he wore when he wed her

He pictures her right by his side
Everyday he puts it on
Some years ago she passed away
He is the man in gray
