Frognerseter Snooze

I Fastened my skis
and I smiled up at you.
You wrinkled your nose
said just look at that view.
The city below like
A giant crystal bowl,
Gleaming in the frost
And snow.

Up through the woods
I saw squirrels and a hare.
Pinetrees and spruce in
The frozen white air.
They've got wolves here,
and bears
But still you're not scared.
Me, I'm pushing as hard as I can.

I've got a sack on my back
Filled with coffee and snacks.
Looking forward to our rest at the top.
Got some jeger, we'll have fun,
Get some freckles from the sun,
Snoozing on our sheepskin rug.

Down in the city
The traffics insane.
Shops and streets clogged
To a standstill all day.
All that stress
All those plans just
Leave you empty inside.
Pushing from dawn to dusk.

Once I had a future
As bright as this sun.
Promotion,big Job,
Dog eat dog
From day one
Then I made 4 kids
With this woman I love
And we just left that whole
Ratrace behind.

Now I've a sack on my back
Filled with coffee and snacks.
Can't wait for our rest at the top
Brought some jeger, we'll have fun
In the frognerseter sun
Snoozing on our sheepskin rug.

Faith can't survive
In a town like these
Then one day you feel
Death tugs at your sleeve
I never met God
In any church I've been,
But up here my
Spirit can sing.

These slopes have stared
Down for thousands of years,
At tracks in the snow
Made by all living things .
O cherish your life
See the tracks that it's made,
Before they're covered
By the drifting snow .
