King of Babylon

I am a king, content and wealthy
I had a dream, and it terrified me
The tree touched the sky
It offered its shade
Its branches were full
All creatures were fed

A holy one came down
Said cut down, trim, strip, scatter
Let all the creatures flee
And let the stump and roots sit there

For seven years, let him be drenched by the dew
Let him live with the mind of an animal
So that he may know...

That the Most High reigns over the kingdoms of men
And He gives them to anyone He wants
And He sets over them the lowliest of men

I was a king
With pride my heart was filled
I gave all glory to me
And I saw the dream fulfilled

I stood on the roof
And I looked at the land
Everything I saw there
Was wrought by my own hand

I was driven away
I had to scavenge for my food
I was a savage
And then I met You

I serve the king
My sanity was restored
Now I praise the Most High
I give glory to the Lord

He does as He pleases
With the powers of heaven
And those full of pride
He can teach for a "seven"

My world was broken
My face it was turned
From a boast to a beast
That's how I learned...

That the Most High reigns over the kingdoms of men
And He gives them to anyone He wants
And He sets over them the lowliest of men
