The Little Girl With Wings

Let me tell you the story
About the little girl with wings
How she danced through the shadows
How sweet she used to sing
She sang of swirling rainbows
Rainforests of silver-green
Rivers full of turtles
And mermaids in between
Her voice was soft and mellow
It lit the moonless night
Before dawn breaks tomorrow
She'll take her final flight

She dreamt to change the things around
She dreamt to save this land
From demons in tuxedos
White-collared fancy fiends
She dreamt a world that has no guns
A world that has no tanks
No standing army at none's command
No jets to form no flanks
But the warring hogs, they conspired
They plotted her arrest
They tailored a golden cage
For the little girl with wings

A cage is but a contraption –
A device designed to kill
It doesn't really matter
If it's gold or if it's steel
The little girl with wings, she knew
She arranged her final flight
She bid farewell to all her friends
Before the break of light
But we are just mere mortals
We love our golden bait
We hand-pick our contraptions
Aand choose our tailored cage

Let me tell you the story
About the little girl with wings
How she danced through the shadows
How sweet she used to sing
