Mouth Waltz

My mouth is hung in the middle and runs at both ends
I'm forever flapping my gums
I blurt every word my tired old mind sends
Fire them out,one after one

So pin back your ears while I'm yammering' on
Setting the whole world to right
I'm holding the floor and I've plenty more
To say,if you'll listen tonight

Yet the only words that matter at all are the words I didn't say

I should learn when to shut up my mouth
There are things I don't need to say
In anger and spite and what I think's right
Speaking out is not always the way

Chances are missed,what's said is done
White noise,so it would appear
Opportunity called,but now it's all gone
I as too busy talking to hear

I wish I could take back the things I've said
I wish I could wipe the slate clean
But time has moved on,opportunity's dead
If only and what may have been

In the peace of the night when the blood cools down
I reflect on the things I say
I'm a loose lipped fool,I'm a jabbering clown
And I think I've talked you away
