El Santuario de Chimayo (feat. Caitlin Cary)

Well it's been said that the soil can heal you
That all you have to do is hold it near you
And people come from miles away
To wait in line around the block for a chance to pray

Pictures pinned to the banner of the virgin
They're here for help but nothings certain
Crucifix on the crutches against the wall
Left there in hope in New Mexico

They've come for miles
Through the sand along the side of the road
Just to place their hands in the dirt at Santuario de Chimayo

They scoop the earth in little bags to take it with them
In hopes of bringing healing back for their parents and children
And how great would it be to have God's grace in a pouch
Hung up on the wall inside of their house

Some come seeking blessing, others fulfill a vow
Past the shrine on the hilltop outside of town

In front of the cross and under the arch
With all the other pilgrims out in the yards

They've come for miles
Through the sand along the side of the road
Just to place their hands in the dirt
At Santuario de Chimayo

And it's been said that the soil can heal you
That all you have to do is hold it near you
