I've seen the shimmering crystal
Dragonfly of fame
Like some crazed stenographer busily typing my name

You say "Fame is good, at least you won't get stuck in a rut."
I say "Maybe, better ask famous for what?"

Moving along now from interdimensional emissaries from God
To one or two things we might actually find odd
How about annual property taxes
Just to pick one for fun
And other donations made at the point of a gun

I've seen the young people spending far too much of their lives
Enrolled in some schools that'll practically fill them with lies
Well they need money man so really what do you care?
It's just an awful long time to spend to get a career that ain't there

I have seen that a simple job
Done well still counts for a lot
And when you ain't got much to give
You just give the best you got

Running in some race won't necessarily win you the election
Giving it a shot seems to offer some better connection
So we move it along now
And never stand still
Our gifts are not our own
Just the will

Where we got the will
We're gonna find a way
Might end up with something good to say
