Curls

Rinse this conditioner off of all my coils and locks
Lather my chestnut colored skin I mainly get from my pops
And most the tension dissolves right as the temperature talks
See this complexion is a mix of both manila and chocolate

Filipino and black-rooted demeanor is soft
This skinny monotone is singing out his soul to a faucet
Need a retreat or a long trip, know I seek to belong
Just like these sentences that searching for some peace on a song

I want to sing to an audience or be free with my conscience
But I curl in when the world is on the brink of applause
I'd like to sync with my spirit and get an ear for my god
Believe we're longing for the moments that lack reason and logic

My friends call it zen when we're not thinking, but honest
I might leave this town and go live out my life in the tropics
That's my oath to this earth, that's once I see most the world
I pray to god I'm not balding but making peace with my curls
