Like a Thief

So hard to just move on from this
From years of entertaining thieves
Who rob me of my peace and sensibility
These unwelcome guests came dressed to kill
And for a thrill I let them in
Only to find the depths they dwell within

I want them to go, and I ask them to leave
But it's not so easy now that they've more than
A foot in the door and more tricks up their sleeves
And I've grown quite fond of their company

"You'll miss us," they say with their puppy-dog eyes
As they lie in my bed "just one more night"
It's what I always say, hoping they'll be gone by the time I wake

'Cause Daddy's comin' home
