Alive

This moment brings to my mind so many memories
Things that sometimes I wish the world could see, but
Sometimes it makes me wonder what it means to be alive
To see the things that make life so beautiful
To watch a sunrise come up over your windowsill
To hear the sound of a child, so thrilled to be alive
Within the echo what are we striving for is it just happiness
Or is there something more in the formula we seem to seek to understand

But somewhere along the line, deep in the back of our mind
We know we all want to find what it means to be alive

There's some things I still wish that I could have done
But it seems that there is nothing I could have changed
If it's all in the past, there's no need to be rearranged
But sometimes it seems that the world will drive me insane
but I keep on thinking there must be something to gain
From the concept that loving each other will help to soothe the pain

But I know that you will love me for all of my life
'Cause the things you say to me make me remember to pause
And I thought that I would change you but I guess I love you the same so
I will always remember you the way you are, not the way you could have been
Because t seems to me, that that is not the way that life is meant to be

If you look at the blue of her eyes so bright
You will remember what it means to feel wonderful tonight
You will know what it means because you will have seen
The things that make you feel so alive
Because it's only with each other that we can thrive if we
Keep on loving we'll soon realize
That the world keeps spinning for all of us at the same time as we
Try to move ahead and leave the others behind
You know it's just the way that it goes but it really can show us
Just how, just how vain we can be
But you know that we can choose not to see if we never stop to look at the scenery
