The Bay

We live in a dark city
Requisite with every kind of hole there can be
I swear, you're an abysmal pit of desperation
But I love you so

And you sit, by the bay
You claim to be progressive
But you leave your women in the dying mills
And the choked up rivers

I say!
I want you to be better
But I'm afraid I can't stick around
While you sort yourself out

People say they love this place
But they say it for all the wrong reasons there can be
What do we know of its soul and its culture while we're sitting
In our posh apartment buildings out in town, wearing skinny jeans

And by the bay
You claim to be progressive
But your roads are full of holes and
Your people are stuck-up and pretentious

I say!
I know you can be better
But don't expect me to help cause
I don't wanna live here anymore

I hear voices on the street
Asking me to stay behind, but see
I'm no different from all of your hippie uni kids
I'll leave when it's a struggle
And come back when I'm rich and it's no trouble
