Skylines

Yo. There's a lot of places I like to call "Home Away From Home"
Minneapolis, Chicago
It's a long drive
But you know you're close when you start to see the skyline

All my life I've been known to keep movin' like rolling stones
But no matter how far I roam, there's just no place like home
I keep my eyes on the horizon. I've arrived in the city
Buildings risin' up like Titans. I've arrived in the city

(Yea) Now from the time that I record 'til I'm smilin' with awards
I'm reminded where it started, writin' rhymes while I was bored
How I grinded from the floor, to headlinin' to perform
Finally drivin' on them tours, signing vinyls in the stores
Climbin' higher towards makin' hip hop sensation my occupation
And bein' a household name in the general population
The road to riches is viscous it takes a lot of patience
For dealin' with complications often with no compensation
The painstaking process, lacin' up tracks in my partner's basement
The constant pacin' and contemplatin' how to conquer stations
The most rewardin' part is travelin' all across the nation
And seeing the skylines complimented by constellations
Each destination is motivation for me to write these epic poems
Every stepping stone is a treasure trove
There's no better feeling than that final stretch of road
Where I'm headed, no one ever knows, feels like I'm never home

All my life I've been known to keep movin' like rolling stones
But no matter how far I roam, there's just no place like home
I keep my eyes on the horizon. I've arrived in the city
Buildings risin' up like Titans. I've arrived in the city

(Yeah) I'm on a track with Haiku
But I need more than seventeen syllables
And three lines to rhyme through
I'm from around the way of 10,000 Lakes
Represent MN even when I'm out of state
In a city that's synonymous with indie rap
So I'm carryin' the flag and just want to give it back
Legends put us in the map. Now I want the whole globe
They gave us Atmosphere. I'm shootin' through the Ozone
Aimin' for the stars, to another nebula
I'm trying to be a god, even though I'm secular
And the reflection of the lights are in my retinas
Dreams of marquees, my name in the center of
But no, I'm not scratchin' this logo off your eight gig iPod
I'll never leave you Mini Apple-less
Winning where I'm livin'. Never catch these L's
One love, from the TC to STL. Come on

All my life I've been known to keep movin' like rolling stones
But no matter how far I roam, there's just no place like home
I keep my eyes on the horizon. I've arrived in the city
Buildings risin' up like Titans. I've arrived in the city

Chicago, Illinois. Livin' on top, I kill the noise
Of ignorant snobs who live in a box
And want to just stop and kill our voice
The politicians are hot. They're acquitting the cops
And you're docile, feeling coy
But I ain't submitting. I'm walking the distance
I'm rocking with God to fill the void
The city has allowed me to be livin' on the bounty
From the music and removing any ignorance around me
Feeling lifted and so gifted, ain't no ignorance I'm shouting
The glory up to God, and my adrenaline is pounding
Chicago has given me nourishment
Bravado, I'm gettin' encouragement
I'm not going to limit this. I won't be hitting this pothole
I'll miss it and curve it
Any person getting in the way of earning fetty.
Herbs-a-plenty, and I'm getting (?)
'Cause with the words I burn and murder many
And yes I get it in like (?)
(?) John Hancock.
You will obey us when I rhyme that hot
American and great, I had to share and innovate
Because I'm married to the game I had to tie that knot
I'll say it 'til the whole fucking world hear me
I can make it in this game if Cubs can win the World Series

All my life I've been known to keep movin' like rolling stones
But no matter how far I roam, there's just no place like home
I keep my eyes on the horizon. I've arrived in the city
Buildings risin' up like Titans. I've arrived in the city
Home
