Proxy War

Time and again through history
The things we should have seen
Violent revolutions with the promise of a dream
Protest, fight and revolution; something must be done
Anything is possible says the man holding the gun

Another country, another bloody war
Arms deals and corruption, we don't care what they're for
Secret meetings, gunrunners kept behind closed doors
The contracts signed, the people die, another proxy war

In another country thousands of miles away
Far away from the homeland the violence it will stay
Funding for the government and rebel sides once more
It's just another super power proxy foreign war

The cities lie in ruins, the injured line the streets
Children cold and starving, 'cos there's nothing left to eat
The Red Cross can take no action, the UNs hands are tied
Who will be accountable for this genocide

Refugees are fleeing to find a place to go
Meantime still they carpet bomb the place that they call home
The stories of these people is old news once again
No attention from the media and the eyes of the world are closed
