When We Were Young, Kid

I've said my last goodbye to many friends
I told them I would see them soon
But where scars and stories fade away
We don't see the same that much these days
It doesn't leave much left to do
Take me back to when we were younger kid
We had so much more to endure
Now plastic figures and old guitars lay broken on the floor
We don't use them anymore.

Remember when we said we could be someone
Leave our hometowns far behind
But we would get lost, and separate somewhere along the way
I guess that growing up is blind

You sang to me
I sang along
A brand new beat
A brand new song
If you're complete, then put your hands together
And smile
I know it's been a while

To everyone I've hurt
I never meant to hurt you
I'm just selfish in my ways
Like a bullet shot straight through the crowd
On route of least resistance
Who somehow sank beneath the waves
And looking back at dreams I had at seventeen
It's just sad to see they've changed
This is the final song to bid goodbye
To close the chapters of my life
Hopefully turn a new page

Remember when we said we could be someone
Leave our hometowns far behind
But we would get lost, and separate somewhere along the way
I guess that growing up is blind

You sang to me
I sang along
A brand new beat
A brand new song
If you're complete, then put your hands together
And smile
I know it's been a while
