Leaving Up the Tree

Finally got the tree set up and standing
Decorations laid out on the floor
Gotta keep coming up with the Christmas feeling
I've never done this on my own before

I hung the pair of reindeer on the branches
And the broken Santa Claus you bought for me
Loaded up with the tinsel the way you liked it
Lights wrapped all around the memories

I'll hold on to the holidays
And that'll make it all okay
Don't want Christmas to be gone
And I wish I could move on
But it's like you're here with me
So I'm leaving up the tree

Now the corner of the room is full of color
The reflections in the window make me smile
Bought you a gift that I wrapped in purple paper
It can stay beneath the tree just for a while

I'll hold on to the holidays
And that'll make it all okay
Don't want Christmas to be gone
And I wish I could move on
But it's like you're here with me
So I'm leaving up the tree

Why take down the angel
Who's watching over me?
Since you had to leave me
I'm leaving up the tree

I'll hold on to the holidays
And that'll make it all okay
Don't want Christmas to be gone
And I wish I could move on
But it's like you're here with me

I'll hold on to the holidays
And that'll make it all okay
Don't want Christmas to be gone
And I wish I could move on
But it's like you're here with me
So I'm leaving up the tree
