Material Confusion

I try to separate
From the material world
It doesn't matter anyway

Forget about
Your troubles for now

I try to meditate
Ignore the guns and sirens
That cry all through the night

But I can't quiet
My noisy brain

I know only my senses
See, hear, smell, taste, touch
Tangible stimuli
Who am I?

Simulated dreams
Of questions that have answers
A simpler point of view

A path laid out
Before me

Time is not linear
There's no beginning or end
Nothing ever dies
If it once existed

My world is flesh and concrete
It's all I know
Whatever lies on the other side
I'll be there soon

I hope to see you in a distant life
I hope to see you in the afterlife
