Stories (The Hero's Journey)

you have never been here before
you're standing outside the door to the unknown
but I want you to know you're not alone

grab the rope they've thrown out to you
and pull yourself to freedom
you have so much left to do
all our times—they will come
but not for now—you can hang around for a while

they walked the path in front of you
now the wisdom is passed on to you
like a torch in the night
an angel taken flight to say
you are strong, and it's your turn
to sing your own song
you have your own truth to say
your own stories to tell
your own stories to tell
your own stories to tell
your own stories to tell

about how you walked the valley of death
your shadow—you faced it
then lifted your head sayin'
oh my god! I thought you left me here
alone and forsaken
still I faced my fear, hell
yes, I descended to the depths of the earth
but still I am here feels like a new birth
i hope that I can hold out some hope for you
until you can stand up and live in your truth and say

i walked the path in front of you
now the wisdom is passed on to you
like a torch in the night
an angel taken flight to say
you are strong and it's your turn
to sing your own song
you have your own truth to say
your own stories

like Jesus, Sidharttha, Arjuna, Sita Rama
heroes all have struggles but we can learn from the drama
those who walked before us
their stories must be told
they're not just myths and legends from days of old
the challenges they faced were not just their own
they fought and overcame to let you know you're not alone
compassion grows it's a challenge of the heart
to pass the strength and wisdom on inspiring a new start
i commend the will and power you pass on to new generations
creating new myths and legends inspiring new conversations
facing your fears was never said to be an easy task
but when you do you find your treasure
like the heroes of the past and bring it back
now tell your story

i walked the path in front of you
now the wisdom is passed on to you
like a torch in the night
an angel taken flight to say
you are strong and it's your turn
to sing your own song
you have your own truth to say
your own stories to tell (you are strong!)
your own stories to tell (you are strong!)
your own stories to tell (you are strong!)
your own stories to tell (you are strong!)

you are strong!
you are strong!
you are strong!
you are strong!
