Utah

Have you ever been to Utah on a hot Summer day
Did you walk those fields, did you beat the rain
That line of work is hard, but I doubt you thought of it that way

I used to stay in Utah and I know how the story goes
It would always be good breakfast if you could get her on her toes
Before the sun came up, cause there was work to be done

Moving around Utah, got a new place to stay
With flowers on the front porch, and gravel on the way
That's what I remember most
It couldn't beat the farm on its best day

Quickdraw, what are you doing around here again
Must be looking for Trouble, well
Yes ma'am, I am
But ain't doing nothing wrong
Soon as I find him, I'll be gone

And I remember you shufflin' your feet
Your interest in me when I would sing
Now I grew close to your singletree
Now I know what it means

On my way to Utah and I don't know what to think
Will I be remembered when I leave here today
I knew something was wrong
And I wish it hadn't ended that way

But now I'm guessing Utah might be dancing in his grave
Every time that Red and I step on to the stage
But I just hope I'm living, living in a Utah way
I only hope that I am living out, and live on in a Utah way
