Toad Boy

He's a toad boy in a walrus skin
Been told too many times, swimmin's made for fins
So he traded all the lies, a hundred pounds for flies
Said goodbye to the baggy skin, freezing cold, the calfs for kin

He swum with legs that had a different grace about them
Through the haze, a whip like tongue for prey around him
Pad to play, and all new friends amphibian
Clean face, no shave, a better life he's living in

Until the farmer came and found himself a falconer
To take away predators like me
And make marmalade of all our hopes and dreams
Not made for television screens

So he ran, he ran two trains and a flight
He spent days in the dark, money at night
Singing maybe, someday I'll be free

If you wanted a bright side
No I'm not the one
But I think he's alright
Heard he's getting by
Heard he's getting by
Heard he's getting by
Heard he's getting by

He's a toad boy in a walrus skin
Been told too many times quitters never win
So he traded all the lies
