Cmd
Lost so many people either to the streets
Or to the drugs, such a common thing in CMD
Even with that, i still wear this city on my sleeve
Like its my heart, pumping the blood I need
In a town known as "The Devil's Playground" you can feel his presence
And sense temptation around you cause his efforts relentless
Sending demons your way and might disguise them as friendships
Shit everyday I count my blessings
You never know what day is gonna be your last
Can happen at any time like
(Gun shot)
Your lifeless on the ave, and it can happen that fast
And aint nothing more sad, than when you look through the stats
And see how many of us actually have
When the odds is stacked against you, you got more to prove
Got me wishing that i live to see my dreams come true
Can feel god through this passion in me
Reflection of Kendrick, anotha good kid in a mad city
2013 News Report: Chicago is not the most dangerous City in America
Camden, New Jersey has that title on a per capita basis
Its also the poorest city in the country
And for way too long and all the years i've been reporting on it
Its been a place people drove by or took great pains to avoid
Thats why tonight we tell their story
And the story of a place we can No longer Ignore
The murder rate increase in 2013
Same year my boy was killed and he was 15
The pain i felt that day, shit i still feel inside
Just want more of my people to see 25
Had homies who went and joined gangs
Tried to convince em not to but stubborn minds don't change
To heal their pain, some turnt to drugs til they O.D
But music was my drug, so i chose the keys
Seen every reason why Pops wanted to move me out
I never left, and i thank god I chose a different route
See where we from parents scared to let they kids go out
One bad decision all it takes and everything goes south
I see the good in the bad no matter how it's balanced
Can't be sleeping on this city cause its filled with talent
This everybody else thats tryna escape the madness
We gon' be straight trust me we gon' manage
For real
2013 News Report: It is the poorest city in America
And is considered to be the most dangerous city in this country
"I always think of Camden as the best visual aid in America
To see what has gone wrong and what is going wrong"
"Well It's staggering poverty surrounded by staggering wealth"
"Correct, American Citizens are dying in inner city America
And they are dying in Camden at levels never seen, and never imagined"
Or to the drugs, such a common thing in CMD
