By the Wind You Were Brought

Blowing out the candle on the night
Blowing out those things we tried and couldn't get right
Blown by a changing of the wind
A weathervane that can't find its way again
I am that weathervane
Drifting forward then turning back again
You are that old kite string
That's not tied to anything
That got caught up by the wind one day
And wrapped around a weathervane

Bound together the wind did blow
All around and it changed us so
It loosened every bind
In the tangled end of that old kite line
And when the knot was finally free
All of you escaped from me
Offered up and taken by the wind
Leaving me here spinning back and forth again
Let loose
Set free
To kiss another face and pass on easily
Without a thought of who it was by the wind you were brought

You danced like poetry
On the back of a breath carelessly
Something spoken from afar
That the wind brought to where you are
I don't always dig poetry
But I loved the way it danced for me
Passing on a breeze
And taking every living part of me
But this ain't no rhyme
And I ain't no iron
One that stays fixed in love's changing desire
Without a thought of who it was by the wind you were brought
