Great Pennsylvania

Cool dense woods on the mountainside
The kids at the bottom play and hide
In the trees and the rocks back by dinner time
Fish in the lake that runs so wide

And the kids there only know that life
Blue hills in the distance and Communion wine
The farms and towns share their lives
Help the old that live on the mountainside

In the valleys of old Pennsylvania
The rivers and creeks run deep
On the mountains of great Pennsylvania
The old men never weep

The fairs and rides and the funnel cakes
The families stay together and stay out late
A special night held by the firehouse
With the soup and the sandwich
And the sauerkraut

In the valleys of old Pennsylvania
That's where the people live
On the mountains of great Pennsylvania
Never take and always give

The fall and winter fade into one
The trees turn colors and then they're done
They come back in the spring then it's cold again
So bundle up your coat and hold a hand

Rolling hills of old Pennsylvania
Where the corn grows yellow and tall
The people of great Pennsylvania
Are the best ones of all

Oh my dear and great Pennsylvania
I miss you every day
I'll see you soon my dear Pennsylvania
Please don't go away
