The Residents of the House

The light in the room is weak
And walls are covered with marks
Left by the people who once
Were residents of the house
The windows have a thick layer of dust
The wooden floor has black stains on it
There's rusty nails in the kitchen sink
And mummified fruits on a crooked table

Who were the residents of the house?
Who were the residents of the house?

One day some strangers went
Knocked the door, there was nothing
But the sound of the atmosphere
It was fall, it was misty, there's no leaves in trees
They kicked the door in and found three bodies lying in the hallway
They still had their mouths and eyes open
A child and two older, the strangers came
And took them bodies, and never went back again

They were the residents of the house
They were the residents of the house

In the yard there's apple trees
And only a featherless crow now shrieks
Its farewell...
