You're Forgiven

He shattered their world, one person at a time
He took their lives, and would suffer for his crime
A man led astray by the evil in his mind
Commited many murders, and no peace he could find

The day he was sentenced, he knew what to expect
Anger and hatred for the lives he had wrecked

One by one, the families took turns
Describing their sorrow and how they hoped he would burn
Choking back tears, catching their breath
They called him an animal, and hoped for his death

But he sat stone faced, he knew what to expect
Anger and hatred for the lives he had wrecked

Then an old man stood up, and called the killer by name
He was the father of one of the girls he had slain

The courtroom was silent, they awaited his words
And thought they would be filled with anger and hurt
But the old man looked down, let out a sigh
And spoke with tenderness and pain in his eyes

"Im not one of them," He said gentle and kind
As he looked at the man that took his daughter's life
And despite all the pain from the mans evil sin
He looked the killer in the eyes and said "Youre Forgiven"

The killers heart broke, and eyes welled up with tears
He had done so much evil for so many years
How could someone, that had lost so much
Turn around and offer mercy and love?

The Killer was broken, he did not expect
To recieve mercy for the lives he had wreck
