Bedroom Poetry

I'll bring my poetry out of my bedroom
Untie my own noose
I'll sell it as a play
Without cast members
Fuck the status quo

I won't try to be what I'm not
What you're not
I won't try to be what I'm not
What you're not
While the poets spit on my face
I'll answer with a chord
Oh, these handcuffs are way too short
To make a noise

I'll play guitar while the neighbor's working
Call it damage control
I play the poet when their eyes are zooming
Call it folklore

I won't try to be what I'm not
What you're not
I won't try to be what I'm not
What you're not
While the poets spit on my face
I'll answer with a chord
Oh, these handcuffs are way too short
To make a noise

When we make our minds travel
Into places that never truly existed
Maybe it's better that they never did
But still,
My soul longs to know what it'd feel like for them to be real

I won't try to be what I'm not
What you're not
I won't try to be what I'm not
What you're not
While the poets spit on my face
I'll answer with a chord
Oh, these handcuffs are way too short
To make a noise
