Lake

We swam across the lake
Crawled up on the rocks in the middle on a little island
Why should we care if the body aches?
Gotta use what you can, cuz you can't take it with you

We slept upon the rocks beneath the northern lights
And the stars were shooting bullets like they're scared for their lives
We slipped into the lake, cuz hey, the water's just fine
And we felt our bodies melt into ourselves, into the night
The night, the night

Now I ain't got much to say
But I got a couple colors in an old coat pocket
Cuz I always lick my plate
Gotta use what you can, cuz you can't take it with you

I followed him back into the woods
And I didn't wanna kiss him, but I knew I should
I gave my love by the fireside
I was scared and lonely, only just a-hitchin a ride, a ride

And I was scared of something that I could not remember
So I floated up to the sky right with those embers
And I was scared of slammin the back screen door
On my way out

And I was scared that you might see
The difference between my body and me
