Cherry Blossom Tree

We had some growing up to do
Over the summer and into the fall
Spent a lot of time on my own waiting for a call
Starting to believe maybe I'm better off alone
Glad I kept to myself, you should see how I've grown

And though I miss the way it used to be
It can never be the same
Moving on is hard
You know how I am with change so
Please don't come running back to me

Two kids avoiding issues over the winter and into the spring
Easily distracted by the creak in a playground swing
Or a melody on a rainy evening drive
Avoiding is easier than learning to survive

And though I miss the way it used to be
It can never be the same
Growing up is hard
You know how I am with change so
Please don't come running back to me

I've done a lot of growing up now that it's winter again
Still spending too much time trying to understand
But sometimes in life you don't get an explanation
So if it's written in the stars
I'll see you on another constellation

And though I miss the way we used to be
We can never be the same
I've done a lot of growing up and
I love who I became so
Please don't come running back to me

Oh
Even though I miss you so
Don't come running back to me
