Lemonade

It's 1975 and so damn hot outside
You need something to cool down, but nothing's around
All the shops and stores are closed, so now most people know
They'll only find refreshment from a tap or garden hose
So I went out to my backyard
Picked up a couple lemons, it wasn't that hard
Now to quench their thirst, but I gotta make a stand quickly first
Gotta make a stand quickly first

Now everyone is lining up to get a taste
Of this lemonade my mother used to make

Sweet then sour
With a pinch of poison powder
Panic louder
You'll all be dead within the hour
Sweeter than sour
With a kick that'll make you cower
Their smiles dower
Do I regret it? No, gotta save my mother

She says I know this is tough, but we don't have enough
The meds are slowly dwindling away
She says son, in you I trust and go on you must
To sell your awful lemonade
Just earn enough then run to the corner store
Before they catch on and it's all been for naught
Just hurry up and call the doctor at the door
Then pay for my meds so I can get out of bed

Sweet then sour
With a pinch of poison powder
Panic louder
You'll all be dead within the hour
Sweeter than sour
With a kick that'll make you cower
Their smiles dower
Do I regret it? No, gotta save my mother

So I run, I run, I run home faster than
Any, any, anything you can imagine
But now they're waking up, up, up
And they want their money back
So you'd better run fast

I'm not sorry that I had to knock you out
And take all your money just to help my mother out

Sweet then sour
With a pinch of poison powder
Panic louder
You'll all be dead within the hour
Sweeter than sour
With a kick that'll make you cower
Their smiles dower
Do I regret it? No, gotta save my mother
