A Shallow Depth

He thought he was doing well in chaos-free suburban hell
His plan looks misguided now 'cause minefields are so tough to plow

Sisyphean task, she learned not to even ask
He knew he was always right, so then she left without a fight

"I gave her everything, or so I tell myself," he said
As he went to the bottom of a shallow depth
"What more could I have done? At least left the car," he said
Climbing out from the bottom of a shallow depth

Looks 'round an empty room, a sigh is like a sonic boom
What about the plans we made? The cable, and the phone upgrade

Weeks away from home make sense, she became another tense
Staring at the walls would seem like giving in to some lost dream

"She was my everything, or so I tell myself," he said
Climbing out from the bottom of a shallow depth
"What more could I have done? At least left the car," he said
Looking down to the bottom of a shallow depth
